REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, JULY 19, 2005

 

            The Board of Trustees:

 

·        Approved minutes of previous meetings.

 

·        Heard a report on district facilities.

 

·        Adopted the FY 2006 Budget.

 

·        Adopted the proposed Statement of Beliefs and Mission Statement for developing a new district strategic plan.

 

·        Approved the transfer of interest earnings from Sixteenth Section Funds to District Maintenance.

 

·        Approved the claims docket for payment of current accounts.

 

·        Received monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for special events.

 

·        Approved requests to dispose of the following records: Federal projects through the 1999-2000 school year, correspondence and general files prior to 2000, records on former students who were ineligible for special education, records on former students who are deceased, records on former students who were eligible or ineligible for the gifted program (retained for five inactive years) and 1999-2000 food service records.

 

·        Approved requests to dispose of the following equipment which is beyond repair: one typewriter, tag #1211; three printers, tag #s 2266, 4512, & 2583; one refrigerator, tag #431; one filing cabinet, tag #1726; four computers, tag #s 2588, 2578, 2579, & 3338.

 

·        Granted permission for the Columbia High School Band to conduct its annual Band Camp July 25-29, 2005, on the campus of PRCC in Poplarville.

 

·        Gave second approval of revisions to the following district policies: JKB, Solicitation by Students (Fund Raising); JR, Student Records; GARI, Personnel Leave-Sick and Personal (Vacation) Leave-Leave of Absence; and to rescind policy GBRK, Vacations.

 

 

·        Approved requests from district employees living out of the district for their children to attend Columbia schools for the 2005-2006 school year:

·        Approved a request to use the services of Bruckner’s Photography to take all school pictures for Columbia High School during the 2005-2006 school year.

·        Approved an increase in the cost of an adult school breakfast from $1.40 to $1.45 for the 2005-2006 school year.

 

·        Gave first approval of revisions to Section E of the District School Board Policy Manual.

 

·        Approved the final amended FY 2005 budget.

 

·        Accepted employment resignations submitted by Robert White, assistant eight grade football coach, Bill Rackley, assistant eight grade football and girl’s fast pitch softball coach, and Sandy King, third grade teacher at Columbia Primary School, for the 2005-2006 school year.

 

·        Approved employment of the following persons for the 2005-2006 school year:

o       Dominic Palisi as a social studies/math teacher at Columbia High School and assistant eight grade football coach

o       Maria Edwards as an English teacher at Columbia High School

o       Baxter White as a math teacher and assistant slow pitch softball coach at Columbia High School

o       Jennifer Branch as assistant fast pitch softball coach

o       Tommy Washington as a 12-month custodian at Columbia High School

o       April Grayson as the eight grade social studies teacher at Jefferson Middle School

o       Jennifer Watts as a sixth grade teacher at Jefferson Middle School pending re-certification

o       Amanda Bennette as a SPED teacher assistant at Jefferson Middle School

o       Evelyn Kleinke as the Day Treatment classroom teacher at Columbia Elementary School

o       Shirley McLendon as a teacher/library assistant at Columbia Elementary School

o       Carrie McGrew as a third grade teacher at Columbia Primary School

o       Michelle Robbins as cashier at Jefferson Middle School

o       Shawee Peters as a part-time cafeteria worker at Jefferson Middle School

o       Sabrina Fairburn as a part-time cafeteria worker at Columbia High School

o        Wanda Sanford as a 12-month counselor at Columbia High School
