a cash donation in the amount of $500.00 from the Exxon Educational Foundation
for the Fast Pitch Softball Program.

requests from administrators/supervisors to dispose of the following equipment
that is beyond repair: computers, tag #s 178, 603, 604, 187, 1282, 1242, 1238,
& 1255; tape backups, tag #s 1409 & 3137, UPS, tag #1413; tenor sax,
tag #9372; answering machine, tag #2116; timpani, tag #9385; bass clarinet, tag
#9326; printers, tag #s 179 & 2725; and printer, duplicate tag #4100.

Approved
requests from permission to conduct fundraisers: CPS, 2-3 PTA, candy and gift
sale; CHS Football Touchdown Club, spirit discount cards and football program
ads; CHS Slow Pitch Softball Boosters, sell advertisement signs; CES PTA, candy
sales; CHS Band and Band Booster Club, barbeque dinner and money raffle.

Granted
the CHS Band Booster Club permission to solicit sponsors to purchase an
equipment truck.

Approved
requests from employees, living out of the district, for their children to
attend district schools: Allen Boutwell (CPS, K-1), son of Beth Boutwell; Abby
Frances Magee (CPS, K-1), daughter of Zelma Magee; Emily Welch (CPS, K-1),
daughter of Cindy Welch; and Dustin Arinder (CPS, 2-3) and Devin Arinder (JMS),
children of Melissa Arinder.

Granted
the CHS Employability Skills II Class permission to travel out-of-state to New
Orleans, LA, on August 20, 2002.
·
Approved
a request by the City of Columbia to use district facilities during the
2002-2003 school year for recreational programs (NFL flag football, softball,
baseball, and football camp).
·
Gave
first approval of revisions to district policies GCBA "Teacher
Aide/Assistant Teachers-Qualifications and Employment" and Job
Descriptions - GBBACE "Special Education Teacher Assistant", GBBAEB
"Federal Programs Teacher Assistant", GBBAJG "Physical Education Teacher Assistant",
and GBBAKN/GBBALK/GBBAME "Teacher Assistants".

Accepted
a proposal from Bruckner's Photography, Inc. for senior portraits, yearbook
photography, special events photography, school day pictures, and spring
photography at Columbia High School for the 2002-2003 school year.
·
Set
a tuition fee of $300.00 per semester for students whose legal residence is out
of the district and have received a release from their home school district.
·
Accepted
a student released from Lamar County School District to attend Columbia Primary
School as a tuition student.
·
Authorized
the district to submit an application for Title VI-Part B Grant funding and
approved the Statement of Assurances.
·
Granted
the district permission to purchase three vehicles from Mack Grubbs Motors
pending approval of the State Department of Education.
·
Increased
bus driver pay for field trips to $6.00 per hour and reimbursement rates for
cost per mile to $.50 (mini bus) and $.75 (regular bus).
·
Approved
a request to increase the cost of football-reserved season tickets to $35.00
for the season.
·
Accepted
employment resignations submitted by Elizabeth Moody, CHS cafeteria worker;
Burell Lee, JMS SPED teacher; Loren Monk as 9th grade baseball
coach; and Keysha Sims and Robin E. McDaniel, CPS, K-1 teacher assistants.
·
Approved
the employment of the following persons for the 2002-2003 school year pending
the results of a current background check as required by State law: Greg Owen
as 9th grade baseball coach, Tony Woody as golf coach, Kimberly
Murphy as a SPED teacher at Jefferson Middle School, Michele Allen as a TA at
Jefferson Middle School, Robin Mitchell as a first grade teacher assistant at
Columbia Primary School, April Cook as a physical education assistant at
Columbia Primary School, David Graham as a bus driver, Jim Carney as a
substitute bus driver, Judy Smith and Anita Johnson as part-time cafeteria
workers, Ann Stovall as a substitute cafeteria worker, and Mary Beth Golson, Lynn Broom, Louise Brown,
and Evelyn Lee be employed beyond their contracted time to provide homebound
instruction for SPED students as needed.

an employee maternity leave.

Received
a copy of the district's brochure, school board member training, minutes of
administrative staff meeting and Student Code of Conduct & Discipline
Plan.
