The Board of Trustees:
· Approved minutes of previous meeting.
·
Heard a report from Mrs. Janet Weiskopf, Director of the Columbia
Educational Foundation, on the upcoming CEF Membership Celebration.
·
Received the monthly financial status report.
·
Heard a report on district facilities.
·
Approved the payment of accounts.
·
Acknowledged the report on bus repairs/expenses and the monthly report
on the use of school buses for special events.
·
Approved requests to dispose of the following equipment that is beyond
repair: one calculator, tag #146; one
heat lamp, tag #984; one food slicer, tag #988; eight printers, tag #s 3440,
4259, 2584, 703, 2586, 1178, 2051, & 3032; two computers, tag #s 1179 &
1490; two VCRs, tag #s 1478 & 1492; one cassette player, tag #1792; and one
microwave oven, tag #852.

Accepted a proposal from Bruckner’s School Photography for school
pictures at
·
Approved out-of-state travel requests to attend conferences.
·
Accepted a button making machine and a book, Hope Through a Father’s Vision and a
Mother’s Grief, from Mrs. Dottie McAllister and other members of
Compassionate Friends in memory of Kristopher McAllister.
·
Granted approval of requests for out-of-state field trips.
·
Approved proposed fundraising projects: CHS to sell tickets to McRae’s
Holiday Charity Sale, CHS Show Choir Booster Club to host a dessert theatre, a
small silent auction, and a Christmas program performed by the CHS Show Choir
on December 19, 2004; and JMS cheerleaders to sell Columbia Wildcat yard signs
at a cost of $15.00 each through the month of November.

Gave second approval to revise CSD Policy BCAB “Regular Board Meetings”
changing the school board meeting time from

Gave first approval of revisions to Section B of the District’s School
Board Policy Manual with the exception of Policy BCAB.

Amended the 2004-2005 school year calendar by changing
·
Approved the District's Test Security Plan and the accompanying Statement
of Assurances.
·
Accepted the resignation of Edmond Sanders, janitor at
·
Approved the employment of Donald R. Bullock as a janitor at Jefferson
Middle School, Melinda Pratts as a first grade
teacher assistant, Debbie Rowell as cafeteria cashier at Columbia Primary
School, Linda Young as a substitute bus driver, Rosa Thompson as a homebound
teacher, and William Watts be changed from an 11-month janitor at Jefferson
Middle School to a 12-month janitor.

Heard a report from the Superintendent which consisted of the following:
a request to name the Columbia High School Band Hall in honor of Ronnie and Loucinda Herrington, the Columbia Educational Foundation
Membership Celebration, receipt of a Mississippi Power Education Foundation
Grant and a Title VI-B-2 Rural - Low Income Schools Program Grant, School Level
Assessment Results, appointment of Ms. Sheila Burbridge to serve on the School
Executive Management Institute Advisory Board, and school board development for
the 2004-2005 school year.

Named the Columbia High School Band hall “Herrington Hall” in honor of Mr. & Mrs.
Ronnie Herrington.
·
Accepted a Mississippi Power Education Foundation grant for strategic
planning.
·
Accepted the Mississippi Department of Education Title VI-B-2 Rural and
Low Income Schools Program grant.
·
Recognized the achievement and growth of the district as reflected in
the 2004 Mississippi Statewide Accountability System.
