            The Board of Trustees:

 

·        Approved minutes of previous meetings with an amendment to reflect the pay of an assistant teacher for the SPED extended school year program.

 

·        Heard a report on district facilities and received the monthly financial status report.

 

·        Gave first approval of the proposed FY 2008 budget.

 

·        Approved payment of accounts.

 

·        Received the monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for special events.

 

·        Gave second approval of revisions to School Board Policy JCBJA “Random Drug Testing”.

·        Approved a request for permission for the Columbia High School Football Touchdown Club to conduct a Football Camp for ages 7-14, July 24-26, 2007, 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the cost of $30.00 per participant.

 

·        Accepted a $500.00 grant from Wal-Mart for the Columbia High School Touchdown Club summer football program.

 

·         Approved requests for permission to travel out-of-state.  

 

·        Accepted the lowest and best bid received from Munn Enterprises for a football scoreboard.

 

·        Approved a request for authorization to submit an application for the IDEA, Part B and Preschool project and the statement of assurances for FY 2008.

 

·        Approved an increase in the cost of an adult breakfast from $1.40 to $1.50 and an adult lunch from $2.50 to $2.75.

 

·        Approved the plan for measuring implementation of the District’s Wellness Policy.

 

·        Adopted the proposed Strategic Plan.

 

·        Gave first approval of revisions to student/parent handbooks for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

·        Approved the revised coaching supplement salary schedule for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

·        Adopted guidelines for classified employees for time and attendance.

 

·        Discussed confidential personnel matters in executive session.

 

·        Accepted the employment resignation of Sabrina Lee as cashier at Columbia High School, effective May 24, 2007.

 

·        Released Michael Bass, teacher/band director at Jefferson Middle School, from his contract for the 2007-2008 school year to accept a position at PRCC.  

 

·        Approved the employment of the following persons:  Chris Turnage as a  summer clerical worker on an as needed basis; Alice Rayford as a custodian at Columbia Elementary School  June 11-30, 2007;  Beverly Masino as a speech/language pathologist at Columbia Elementary School; Jan Williams and Kathy Thomas as teachers at Columbia Primary School; Melissa Ervin as cafeteria manager at Columbia Primary School Cafeteria; Glenda Malcolm as cashier at Jefferson Middle School Cafeteria; Sara Davis, April Grayson, and Kim Todd as teachers at Jefferson Middle School; Ashley Watkins as an art teacher at Columbia High School; Ellen Winton as the National Honor Society and National Beta Club sponsor at Columbia High School; Doug Norris as CHS head football, weights, & head track coach; Tim Horton as head 8th gr. football, asst. 9th gr. football, & asst. baseball coach; Greg Ellzey as CHS asst. football, asst. 9th gr. football, & assistant track coach; Phelix Shoemaker as CHS asst. football, head 9th gr. football, & power lifting coach; Greg Owen as CHS head baseball & boys & girls cross country coach; Tony Woody as CHS head boys & girls basketball; JV boys & girls basketball, golf, & archery coach; Rob Knight as CHS asst. football, asst. 9th gr. football, & tennis coach; Ryan Stringer as CHS asst. baseball & asst. slow-pitch softball coach; Robert Cheatham as CHS asst. football & asst. track coach; Scott Fitzgerald as CHS head slow-pitch softball & head fast-pitch softball coach; and Aleise Henry as CHS asst. fast-pitch softball coach for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

·        Approved the reemployment of Attorney Drew Foxworth as School Board Attorney, July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.

 

·        Received a copy of administrative staff meeting minutes. 

 

·        Continued the meeting until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2007, for the purpose of conducting a Public Hearing on the proposed FY 2008 Budget, to approve payment of FY 2007 accounts, and to conduct any other matters of business deemed necessary.
