REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, JANUARY 13, 2000
The Board of Trustees:
-
Reelected the following trustee officers for 2000: Mrs. Camille Breland,
School Board President; Mr. Billy Rawls, Vice-President; and Mr. Charles
Boston, Secretary.

Approved minutes of previous meetings.
-
Reviewed progress on district building projects.
-
Approved the transfer of interest earnings in the amount of $20,979.09
from the Sixteenth Section Fund to the District Maintenance Fund.
-
Approved the payment of accounts.
-
Received the monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school
buses for special events.
-
Approved requests to dispose of fourteen computers, tag #s 2245, 1581,
1572, 1527, 1579, 1503, 1516, 1508, 1519, 70, 1495, 1568, 1563, and 485;
and one bulletin board paper rack, tag # 922, which are beyond repair.

Accepted a gift of a 486 DX2 66 computer, monitor, and tape drive to be
used as parts from Mr. Eddie Ray Breakfield.

Approved requests to conduct fundraisers as submitted by principals for
the CHS French Club, JMS PTA and CPS, K-1 PTA.
-
Approved requests for out-of-state travel.
-
Granted permission for the third grade classes at Columbia Primary School
to travel out-of-state on a fieldtrip.
-
Declared 428 six-compartment school lunch trays as surplus property and
authorized the sell of the school lunch trays to the Marion-Walthall Correctional
Facility.

Approved amendments to the FY 2000 budget.

Approved the employment of the following persons: William (Billy) Royston,
special education teacher at JMS and coach at CHS (pending certification);
Diane Haddox, part-time cashier at CES; Joni Beard, TA at CPS, 2-3; Melissa
Hall, special education teacher at CES; and the addition of Traci Magee,
James P. Miller, and Linda McKenzie to the substitute teacher list for
the 1999-2000 school year.

Presented a certificate to Mr. Eddie Ray Breakfield, 2000 District Parent
of the Year.

Heard a report from Superintendent Lyle which included minutes of administrative
staff meetings, NSBA annual conference news, FY99 audit report, and a list
of teachers who have received national board certification.

Received the monthly financial status report.
-
Accepted the lowest bids received for internal wiring to be installed in
the new construction at Columbia High School.
-
Took under advisement bids from local banks to serve as depository for
district funds for the period July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2003.
