REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, DECEMBER 13, 2007

 

            The Board of Trustees:

 

·        Approved minutes of previous meetings.

 

·        Heard concerns addressed by Mr. Bill Callendar regarding the use of Gardner Stadium facilities for the Columbia Youth Football League

 

·        Heard a report from Mr. Lewis Griffin. AIA, on the Columbia Primary School Additions/Renovations Project.

 

·        Received the monthly financial status report.

 

·        Was informed that the City Board of Supervisors is interested in the District’s property located on the west side of West Avenue adjacent to the Jefferson Middle School campus for building a voting precinct.

 

·        Authorized the District to enter into a contract with Landry and Lewis Architects for architectural services for the Columbia High School Fieldhouse Project.

 

·        Approved the claims docket for payment of current accounts.

 

·        Received monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for special events.

 

·        Approved requests to dispose of the following equipment that is beyond repair: two hand-held scanners, tag #s 4706 & 4711, one computer, tag #4901; and one Sony digital camera, tag #4092.

 

·        Accepted a donation from Exxon Mobil Corporation in the amount of $500.00 to be used to purchase picnic tables for the students’ break area at Jefferson Middle School.

 

·        Approved a request for permission to travel out-of-state to attend the ASCD Annual Conference. 

 

·        Accepted a proposal from Interstate Studio and Publishing Company to produce a Columbia Elementary School yearbook for the 2007-2008 school year. 

 

·        Gave second approval of School Board Policy IKB “Parent Involvement Under Title I” and revisions to School Board Policies GCRA “Working Conditions – Fair Labor Standards Act” and LEC “Booster Clubs and Other Support Groups”.

 

·        Authorized the District to enter into an agreement with AnComm “Talk About It,” an anonymous online communication service for students in grades 5 through 12.

 

·        Accepted an employee’s resignation.

 

·        Heard a report from the Superintendent which consisted of the 2008 Trustee Election Calendar and School Board/Superintendent’s evaluation.

 

·        Received a copy of administrative staff meeting minutes.

 

·        Discussed pending litigation in executive session.
