REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, APRIL 13, 2004

 

            The Board of Trustees:

 

·        Approved minutes of previous meeting.

 

·        Welcomed Mr. Les Peters as a school board trustee for a one-year term.  Mr. Peters and Mr. Charles Boston took an oath of office as school board trustees for their newly appointed terms.

 

·        Received the monthly financial status report.

 

·        Heard a report on district building projects.

 

·        Approved payment of accounts.

 

·         Received the monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for special events.

 

·        Approved requests to dispose of the following equipment that is beyond repair: three printers, tag #s 4515, 4511, & 2091; three computers, tag #s 891, 2357, & 2362; one VCR, tag # 2114; and five calculators, tag #s 2739, 2734, 2743, 2733, & 2383.

 

·        Approved requests to travel out-of-state.

 

·        Authorized the district to submit an application for a SPED Extended School Year Project.

 

·        Accepted a proposal from Jani King for cleaning services at the central office and central office annex.

 

·        Increased the District's tuition fee from $350.00 to $400.00 per semester beginning with the 2004-2005 school year.

 

·        Accepted employment resignations submitted by Jeremy Nunn, math teacher at CHS; Demetrius Antonio Cooley, music teacher at CHS & JMS; Michael E. Forbes, social studies teacher at CHS; and Deles Roberts, sixth grade math teacher at JMS.

 

·        Approved the employment of Marcus Miller as a substitute custodian at CHS, and James Christopher Turnage, Connie Copeland, and Jenny Watts as substitute teachers for the remainder of the 2003-2004 school year.

 

·        Authorized Tammy Smith, music teacher, to conduct a summer music camp for second and third grade students at Columbia Primary School, May 31 - June 4, 2004.

 

·        Approved certified employment recommendations for the 2004-2005 school year.

 

·        Was informed that the District received a certificate from the State Auditor's Office recognizing achievement of financial reporting for FY 2002, notification of school districts to be audited by the Office of the State Auditor for FY 2004, and a notice of completion of school board member training.
