a report from Architect Randy McCaffrey and Dr. Thomas H. Blakeney, Assistant
Superintendent, on district building projects and discussed problems with the
windows in the Columbia High School building.

a report from Mr. Marvin Adams on the district's new Technology Plan.

the monthly financial status report.

Adopted
the FY2004 Budget.

the monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for

permission for the Columbia High School Band to attend summer band camp at
Pearl River Community College during the week of July 28-31, 2003.
·
Authorized
the purchase of SEASWEB Educational Management System and the Kurzweil Software
Program which are single source items.

Gave
first approval of revisions to the Student Code of Conduct and Discipline
Plan and school handbooks.
·
Gave
first approval of an employee dress code.
·
Gave
first approval of revisions to Policy IHA/IHE "Grading, Reporting
Promotion and Retention", which changes the grade placement based on
Carnegie units earned for the graduating class of 2004 and thereafter.
·
Approved
IDEA, Part B and Preschool applications for funding and Statement of
Assurances.
·
Authorized
the district to purchase InteGradeâPro and ParentCONNECTxpâ software from NCS Pearson, Inc., which is
the sole source provider.
·
Authorized
the district to purchase a special needs bus.
·
Declared
eight school buses and three automobiles as surplus property and authorized the
district to advertise the buses and automobiles for sale by sealed bids.
·
Authorized
the district to enter into a contract with the University of Southern
Mississippi to employ two school psychologists for the 2003-2004 school year.
·
Approved
First Federal Bank for Savings as depository of district funds for fiscal years
2004-2006.
·
Accepted
employment resignations submitted Mrs. Gail Van Fleet, preschool teacher at
Columbia Primary School, and Mrs. Rhonda Livingston, English teacher at
Jefferson Middle School.
·
Approved
the employment of the following persons:
* Mrs. Alice Rayford as a
summer maintenance worker at CES;
* Ms. Kim Stringer as an
educational technologist at JMS for the 2003- 2004 school year;
*Ms. Olivia Drinkwater as
music teacher at CHS and JMS, Ms. Celia G. Pittman, as a seventh grade English
teacher at JMS, Ms. Tibby Norman, as a fourth grade teacher at CES, Mr. Gary
Gros as a teacher in the Day Treatment class at CES, Ms. Kathryn McWhorter as a
first grade teacher at CPS (K-1), Mrs. Penelope Wood as the pre-kindergarten
teacher at CPS (K-1), Mrs. Lillie McNair as a physical education teacher
assistant at CES, and Mrs. Georgette A. Ray as a special education teacher
assistant at CES for the 2003-2004 school year pending the results of a current
background check as required by State law; and

a copy of administrative staff meeting minutes and a calendar of school events
for the 2003-2004 school year.

the regular July monthly meeting from July 10 to Monday, July 7, 2003, at 8:00
a.m., to approve payment of claims and to continue the July Board meeting on
Thursday, July 24, 2003, at 5:00 p.m., for the purpose of conducting other
matters of business.

Recessed
the meeting until 8:00 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2003, for the purpose of
approving payment of FY2003 accounts and to conduct any other matters of
business deemed necessary by the Board.
