requests to conduct fundraisers from JMS PTA "World's Finest
Chocolate" candy sale, CHS Band mini-color guard camp and donut sale, and
CHS Beta Club "Students for America" project where donations will be
collected via penny and loose change buckets placed in each Columbia school
location and local businesses. The
donations will be given to The American Red Cross to help defer the
overwhelming costs of serving the people of New York.

a request from a district employee for her children, Jonathan Martin (7th
grader) and Joshua Martin (3rd grader), to attend Columbia Schools.

Granted
permission for the CPS challenge class to participate in a field trip to New
Orleans, LA on November 5, 2001.

Gave
second approval of revisions to district policies GBBAID "Job Description
for School Nurses" and IHA/IHE "Grading, Reporting Promotion &
Retention."

Approved
a recommendation to expel four students from school and placement of five
students in the District's Alternative Program.

Approved
the recommendation to update the Child Nutrition Procurement Plan and chart of
procedures.

Accepted
employment resignations from Earl Ard janitor at CPS, 2-3, Nancy Dement
cafeteria worker at JMS, Delana Broom cashier at CHS, and Jean Stovall
cafeteria worker at CES.

Approved
the employment of Diane Schepmaker as a bus driver; Molly Hilburn as a
part-time cafeteria worker at CES; Wanda Whitecotton as a cafeteria worker at
JMS; Christy Atkins, Tanjala J. Fortenberry, and Jean Stovall as substitute
cafeteria workers; Robert Carson, Jr. as a substitute bus driver and in-school
detention and Saturday school instructor at CHS; Frank Collins as an in-school
detention and Saturday school instructor at CHS; Ryan Davis, Latta Price
Herring, Rhonda Lyons, Jason Roberts, Shane Seals and Gwen Breakfield as
substitute teachers; Tonya Foles as a Saturday school instructor at JMS; and
Gerald Mingo as a substitute bus driver.

first approval of revisions to the job description for teachers.

a parent's request for her child to be released from Columbia High School.

Received
the final report of the Grand Jury, NSBA National Affiliate update, information
from MSBA on board member training, Internet blocking statistics, minutes of
administrative staff meetings, information on the NSBA annual conference and
the Fall Leadership Conference for board members, and overtime litigation.

Received
the monthly financial status report.

Discussed
confidential legal matters in executive session.

Released
Superintendent Lyle from his contract, effective December 19, 2001, to accept a
position with the Long Beach School District as Superintendent.
