minutes of previous meetings.

the monthly financial status report.

a report on district building projects.

the revised 2002-2003 Ad Valorem tax worksheet.

informed that the FY2003 Budget was presented to the City Board of Aldermen and
Mayor on July 2, 2002.

Transferred
Sixteenth Section Funds to District Maintenance ($93,405.21, Interest on
Sixteenth Section CD; $115,765.03, Interest on Loans; $55,238.68, Timber Sale;
$272,596.33, Checking Account Interest; and $2,765.11, Rents and Leases).
·
Acknowledged
the monthly report on bus repairs/expenses.
·
Approved
a request from Mrs. Renee Pounds, Food Service Supervisor, to discard food
service records prior to the 1996-1997 school year.
·
Approved
requests to supervisors to discard the following equipment that is beyond
repair: one typewriter, tag # 1025 and one calculator, tag #138.
·
Approved
requests from employees, living out of the district, for their children to
attend district schools: Kevin Haddox (CHS), Kendall Haddox (JMS), and Faith
Haddox (CPS, K-1), children of Regina Haddox; Kopen Neal Nightingale (CPS,
K-1), son of Tracy Nightingale; Lucas and Marcus Laird (CPS, K-1), children of
Donna L. Laird.

Gave
second approval of revisions to the Student Code of Conduct & Discipline
Plan and School Handbooks.
·
Approved
a request to travel out-of-state.
· Granted permission for the CHS Band to conduct its annual Band Camp on the PRCC campus in Poplarville, July 28 - August 1, 2002.
·
Approved
the Claims Docket for payment of current accounts.
·
Approved
the final amended FY2002 budget.
·
Authorized
the district to enter into a one-year contract with N2H2, Inc. for Internet
content filtering service for the FY2003.
· Accepted a bid from Buffalo Services for transportation fuel for the period of July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003.
·
Authorized
the district to pay a stipend to employees who are on a 187-day contract for
attending a one-day workshop on Strategies of Teaching.
·
Accepted
employment resignations submitted by Wendy Ortega, TA at Columbia Elementary
School, and MSgt. Karvallis Lee, JROTC Instructor at Columbia High School.
·
Approved
the following personnel recommendations:
-employment of Samantha G.
Fortenberry as a biology/science teacher at Columbia High School (pending
certification), Diane Gammill as a business education teacher at Columbia High
School (pending licensure renewal), Brain Keith Venable as an English teacher
at Columbia High School, SMSgt. Ralph Waller as a JROTC Instructor at Columbia
High School, Linda C. Kennedy as a sixth grade social studies teacher at
Jefferson Middle School, Tarrah Sartin as a fifth grade teacher at Columbia
Elementary School, Jacklyn Quinn as a TA at Columbia Elementary School, Judy
Smith as a part-time cafeteria worker at Columbia Elementary School, and Paul
Jackson be employed as a custodian (240 days) at Columbia High School for the
2002-2003 school year pending the results of a current background check as
required by State law
-Brandi Deroche, teacher at
Columbia High School, be employed to teach summer school at CHS for the July
session
-Ellen Winton receive a
stipend for attending the Teacher Support Team Training Session at Columbia
High School scheduled for July 23, 2002
-employment of Leonard
Maxwell, custodian at Columbia High School, be changed from 225 days to 240
days

Discussed
confidential personnel matters in executive session.
· Amended the 2002-2003 salary schedule.
· Changed the regular scheduled meeting of the Board on August 8 to August 15, 2002.
