The Board of Trustees:

• Presented Mr. Johnny Copeland, District Parent of the Year, with a certificate.
• Reelected the following trustee officers for 2001: Mrs. Camille Breland, School Board President; Mr. Billy Rawls, Vice-President; and Mr. Charles Boston, Secretary.
• Approved minutes of previous meeting.
• Heard a report on district building projects and proposed sign improvement plans for Columbia High School.
• Approved the Claims Docket for payment of current accounts.
• Acknowledged the report on bus repairs/expenses and the monthly report on the use of school buses for special events.
• Approved requests for out-of-state travel.
• Granted the Columbia High School Band permission to travel out-of-state to attend the Marshall Fields Jingle Elf Holiday Parade in Chicago, Illinois, November 19-24, 2001.
• Approved amendments to the FY 2000 budget.
• Accepted the lowest and best bid submitted by C & S Fencing for fencing the softball field.
• Approved the recommendation to assign three students to the Alternative Program.
• Accepted an employment resignation submitted by Jeffrey Peters, janitor at Columbia High School.
• Approved the employment of Isaac Brown, in-school detention and after school detention supervisor/instructor at CHS; Bob Smith, janitor at CHS; and Raquel D. Ready, substitute teacher; for the remainder of the 2000-2001 school session.
• Heard a report from Superintendent Lyle that included the NSBA Southern Region Conference and NSBA National Affiliate Update.
• Received the monthly Financial Status Report.
• Discussed a confidential matter in executive session.
• Recessed the meeting until 1:30 p.m., February 4, 2001.
