REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, APRIL 11, 2002

 

            The Board of Trustees:

 

·        Approved minutes of previous meetings.

 

·        Reviewed FY2003 budget development completed to date.

 

·        Received the monthly financial status report.

 

·        Heard a report on district building projects.

 

·        Approved a change order to extend the canopy on the west end of the Jefferson Middle School building.

 

·        Approved the payment of accounts.

 

·        Received the monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for special events.

 

·        Approved a request from a district employee for her child to attend district schools.

 

·        Accepted a donation of three computers with monitors and one net server from the Marion County Family & Children's Services.

 

·        Approved requests to travel out-of-state.

 

·        Approved a request from Mr. Joey Porter, Athletic Director, for permission for the CHS Basketball Booster Club to host a five-week summer league at Columbia High School and a golf tournament as fundraisers.

 

·        Approved a request to dispose of one amplifier, tag #191 and two typewriters, tag #s184 & 482.

 

·        Authorized the district to submit an application for a SPED Extended School Year Project.

 

·        Increased summer school tuition at Columbia High School for students currently enrolled in the Columbia School District from $75.00 to $100.00 - one-half unit, $150.00 to $200.00 - one unit; students not enrolled in Columbia School District from $125.00 to $150.00 - one-half unit, $300.00 to $350.00 - one unit, and driver's education from $110.00 to $150.00 - one-half unit.

 

·        Authorized the district to advertise for bids for marching and concert instruments for the Columbia High School band.

 

·        Approved the recommendation to expel one student out-of-school for the remainder of the 2001-2002 school year. 

 

·        Rescinded a request for sabbatical leave.

 

·        Approved the employment of Andy Rushing as a substitute teacher, Cindy Welch as a teacher assistant at CPS, K-1, and Rebecca Dillard as cashier at CES.

 

·        Approved employment recommendations for non-certified personnel for the 2002-2003 school year.

 

·        Discussed confidential legal matters in executive session.
