REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, JUNE 10, 2004
The Board of Trustees:
- Approved minutes of previous meeting.
- Received the monthly financial status report and a report on FY
2005 budget development as of this date.
- Heard a report on district facilities.
- Amended the minutes of the regular meeting of April 13, 2004, to
include approval of Lynn McDaniel as yearbook advisor, Michael Novinski as
National Honor Society sponsor, and Deidre Randall as Beta Club sponsor at
Columbia High School.
- Approved payment of accounts.
- Received the monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use
of school buses for special events.
- Approved requests to dispose of the following equipment that is
beyond repair and/or remove from the fixed asset inventory: three
switches, tag #s 4479, 4480, & 4481; one channel one interface, tag #
725; one typewriter, tag # 1101, one speaker, tag # 1092; two overhead
projectors, tag #s 55 & 2301; one table, tag # 4505; five computers,
tag #s 2338, 2339, 2527, 3066, & 3077; two hand-held radios, tag #s
3677 & 3678; one desk, tag # 3543; one chair, tag #3544; one laptop
computer, tag #4603; one radio, tag # 2149; one sousaphone, tag #9380; one
clarinet, tag # 3401; four quint toms, tag #s 2203, 2205, 2206 & 9344;
three cymbal stands, tag #s 2152, 2153, & 2154; one printer, tag #
4952, and one cassette player, tag # 1792.
- Approved a request from Principal Shelia Burbridge for permission
for the CHS band to travel out-of-state to attend the Red Stick Thunder
Drum and Bugle Corps competition in Baton Rouge, LA on July 12, 2004.
- Granted the CHS Band permission to conduct its annual band camp on
the campus of PRCC, July 26-30, 2004.
- Gave second approval of revisions to the Student Code of
Conduct and Discipline Plan and school handbooks.
- Gave second approval of revisions to job descriptions for
principals, GBBAJA/GBBAKA/GBBALA/GBBAMA; assistant principals, GBBAJB/
GBBAKB/GBBALB/GBBAMB; and teachers, GBBAJE/GBBAKE/GBBALE/ GBBAME.
- Gave first approval of revisions to school board policies Section
G (Personnel), Section I (Instructional Program), and Section G
(Students).
- Approved the recommendation to increase the cost of school meals
as follows:
Student Breakfast $
.50 to $ .75
Student
Lunch $1.50 to $1.75
Adult Lunch $2.25
to $2.50
- Accepted a proposal from Kelly Services, Inc. for outsourcing substitute
teachers and substitute food service workers for the 2004-2005 school
year.
- Accepted employment resignations submitted by Mr. Edwin Ray,
alternative education teacher/administrator at Columbia High School,
effective June 30, 2004, and
Mrs. Georgitte Ray,
teacher assistant at Columbia Elementary School.

Approved
the following personnel matters:
-Employment of Mayfield
Abram, Kevin Haddox, Joel Smith, and Eric Barnes as summer maintenance workers,
Tim Horton as a summer employee in the transportation department, Coach Billy
Royston and Coach Phelix Shoemaker as summer workers to help with maintenance,
painting, and upkeep of the athletic facilities at Columbia High School
-Kim Stringer, Cindy Shields,
Dawn Dias, Rebecca Sinclair, and Gerri Hampton be paid a stipend for attending two days of Life
Skills Training
-Zelma Magee be paid for
work outside of her contract to conduct speech-language screening/assessments
during the summer on an as needed basis
-Employment of the following
certified personnel for the 2004-2005 school year:
