REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, JANUARY 10, 2008

The Board of Trustees:

· Reelected trustee officers for 2008: Mr. Gus Markins, School Board President; Mrs. Rene’ Dungan, Vice-President; and Mr. Charles Boston, Secretary.

· Approved minutes of previous meeting.

· Received the monthly financial status report.

· Heard a report on district building projects.

· Approved the claims docket for payment of current accounts.

· Received monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for special events.

· Approved requests to dispose of equipment that is beyond repair.

· Approved requests for permission to travel out-of-state.

· Approved a request for permission for the Columbia High School baseball team to travel out-of-state to attend the baseball jamboree at Southeast University in Hammond, LA, February 9, 2008.

· Authorized the Columbia High School Student Council to hold a Valentine dance on February 8, 2008, and to sell flowers and candy as a fund raiser.

· Certified that sufficient funds will be budgeted to cover the district’s portion of the services and equipment received from E-rate funds for FY 2009.

· Adopted a budget calendar for FY 2009.

· Approved the recommendation to add Bridgett Spencer to the district’s list of substitute teachers for the 2007-2008 school year.

· Approved the recommendation to add Donna Martin and Sarah Harrell to the cafeteria substitute list for the 2007-2008 school year.

· Authorized the District to enter into a contract with Gaggle.net for web-based email services.

· Heard a report from the Superintendent: 2008 Trustee Election Calendar, School Board annual reports, and administrative staff meeting minutes.
