REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES, JANUARY 10, 2002
The Board of Trustees:
· Reelected the following trustee officers for 2002: Mrs. Camille Breland, School Board President; Mr. Billy Rawls, Vice-President; and Mr. Charles Boston, Secretary.
· Approved minutes of previous meeting.
· Heard a report on district building projects and the District’s alternative program.
· Received the monthly financial status report.
· Authorized the Interim Superintendent to make Mr. Lindsey Walker an offer for property adjacent to the Jefferson Middle School campus.
· Transferred interest earnings in the amount of $15,312.33 from Sixteenth Section Funds to the District Maintenance Fund.
· Approved the payment of accounts.
· Acknowledged the report on bus repairs/expenses and the monthly report on the use of school buses for special events.
· Approved a request to dispose of one Monroe calculator, tag #169, which is beyond repair.
· Granted permission to dispose of financial records prior to the 1994-95 school year.
· Approved a request to travel out-of-state.
· Approved the recommendation to assign two students to the Alternative Program.
· Authorized the district to purchase fifteen computers for the Jefferson Middle School computer lab.
· Accepted employment resignations from Mr. Joey Porter, Head Football Coach, effective December 14, 2001; and Mr. Todd Williams, GED teacher at Columbia High School, effective January 3, 2002.
· Approved the employment of Mrs. Shannon Tucker as a special education teacher in the District's Alternative Program; Mr. Rob Knight as a social studies/GED teacher (pending certification) at Columbia High School; Mrs. Diane Schepemaker as a part-time cashier at Columbia High School; Keith Branch as a bus driver; and Staci Chisolm, Kathy Bryant, Tommie May, Lori Myers, Angela Smith, Christine Expose, Gail Van Fleet, Mary Price, Jennifer Breland, and Dal Murray as teachers for the extended day tutoring program at Columbia Primary School for the remainder of the 2001-2002 school session.

Heard the Interim Superintendent's report which
included CPS, 2-3 and CHS Principals received PREPS Value Added Awards; the
NSBA National Affiliate Update and Conference Courier; CPS, CES, and JMS
received notification of accreditation from the SACS Commission of Elementary
and Middle Schools; etc.
· Adopted timelines for development of the FY 2003 Budget.
· Authorized the Interim Superintendent to request the City Board of Aldermen to consider putting speed bumps on Bryan Avenue next to Columbia High School.
