REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, FEBRUARY 10, 2000
The Board of Trustees:
- Approved minutes of previous meeting.
- Heard a report from the Architect on district building projects.
- Took under advisement bids for the cafeteria and kitchen renovations at Columbia High School.
- Heard a Proclamation, read by Superintendent Charles Lyle, from Governor Ronnie Musgrove proclaiming the week of February 13-18, 2000 as School Board Member Recognition Week.
- Received certificates of appreciation.
- Approved the transfer of interest earnings in the amount of $20,967.99 from the Sixteenth Section Fund to the District Maintenance Fund.
- Approved the payment of accounts.
- Received the monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for special events.
- Approved a request to dispose of one CD-ROM, tag #900 and one baseband extender, tag #902, which are beyond repair.
- Accepted cash donations from the CPS, K-1 and CPS, 2-3 PTAs to reimburse the activity fund for a stage curtain for the CPS auditorium and playground equipment from the CPS, K-1 PTA.
- Approved a request for the senior class to conduct a fundraiser with McRae's during February.
- Approved requests for out-of-state travel.
- Increased the district's travel reimbursement rate of 31 cents to 32.5 cents per mile to align with the federal government, effective January 14, 2000.
- Authorized the district to apply for a Goals 2000 grant for the 2000-2001 school year.
- Approved amendments to the FY 2000 budget.
- Adopted the FY 2001 budget development calendar.
- Approved the 2000-2001 district school year calendar. (See the District Web Page)
- Placed three students in the Alternative Program.
- Accepted employment resignations submitted by Betty Speights, Food Service secretary; Melissa Hall, special education teacher; and Annie Christopher, bus driver, for the purpose of retirement.
- Approved the employment of the following persons for the remainder of the 1999-2000 school year: Maggie Webber, bus driver; Rachel Fortenberry, Food Service secretary; Diane Schepemaker, cafeteria manager at Columbia High School; Yvonne E. White, Zeledra S. Jefferson and Tenna Engelhardt as cafeteria substitutes; and the addition of Becky Farlow, Shirley McLendon, Angela May, and Lee Wilson to the Substitute Teacher List.
- Approved the continued employment of district administrators, school principals, and assistant principals for the 2000-2001 school session.
- Granted permission to request an emergency educator license for Mrs. Ellen Winton.
- Approved the employment of Mrs. Ellen Winton as a SPED teacher in the Day treatment classroom at Columbia Elementary School, pending certification, for the remainder of the 1999-2000 school year.
- Took depository bids under advisement.
- Heard a report from the Superintendent.
- Received the monthly financial status report.
- Recessed the meeting until 7:00 p.m., February 24, 2000, for the purpose of considering depository bids.
