a request from Ms. Sheila Burbridge, Principal, to start a Drill/Dance Troupe
at Columbia High School beginning with the 2003-2004 school year.

a fundraiser request from the CHS Basketball Booster Club to hold a golf
tournament at the Columbia Country Club on May 24, 2003.

Approved
the recommendation to implement a district-wide student uniform policy
beginning with 2003-2004 school year.

Gave
first approval of revisions to District Policy JCDB "Dress Code".
·
Approved
the recommendation to expel and place one student in the District's Alternative
Program.
·
Increased
the District's tuition fee from $300.00 to $350.00 per semester beginning with
the 2003-2004 school year.
·
Approved
the recommendation to accept three transfer students from Jefferson Davis
County Schools to attend Columbia schools beginning with the 2003-2004 school
year.
·
Accepted
the employment resignation of Judy Smith, cafeteria worker.
·
Approved
the employment of Renea Prine as a part-time teacher assistant with preschool
special education students, Robin McDaniel and Keysha Sims as substitute
teachers, Chasity McNeff as a substitute cafeteria worker, Milton Averett as a
substitute bus driver, Deborah Thomas as an alternative school bus assistant,
Terry Montgomery as a part-time alternative school teacher assistant, and James
Bryant as a mechanic for the remainder of the current school year.

Authorized
Tammy Smith, music teacher, to conduct a summer music camp for second and third
grade students June 2-6, 2003.

Approved
the employment of Gail Stephens, Angie Adams, Hazel Lewis, and Wayne
Scarborough as teachers for the Extended School Year Program.

Approved
employment recommendations for non-certified personnel for the 2003-2004 school
year.
·
Approved
the teacher salary schedule for FY 2004.
·
Heard
a report from the Superintendent on the 2003-2004 school year calendar.
·
Received
the publication of the NSBA Inside School Law, minutes of administrative staff
meeting, and a copy of the book Aligning Resources for Student Achievement.
·
Discussed
confidential personnel matters in executive session.
·
Accepted
the employment resignation of Steve Jones, Athletic Director/Head Football
Coach/Teacher, effective at the end of the 2003-2004 school year.

Approved
the employment of Steve Harmon as Athletic Director.
