The Board of Trustees:

Approved
minutes of previous meetings.
·
Heard
a report from Mrs. Rene' Dungan on the Friendship Park.
·
Received
the monthly financial status report.
·
Heard
a report on district building projects.
·
Adopted
a resolution ratifying the employment of superintendent of the Columbia School
District.
·
Approved
the payment of accounts.
·
Received
the monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for
special events.
·
Approved
requests to dispose of the following unusable equipment which is beyond repair:
printers, tag #s 3998 & 2491; VCRs tag #s 1776, 2306, & 3481; ice
machine, tag # 1777; baseball scoreboard, tag # 2429; cellular phone, tag #
1907; and a blocking sled, tag # 246.

Accepted
a cash donation from the CES PTA in the amount of $2,400.00 for the purpose of
purchasing classroom supplies and a donation of a scoreboard for the John Sapen
Field from the CHS Dugout Club.
·
Approved
a request to travel out-of-state.
·
Authorized
the district to submit a consolidated federal programs application and approved
the required Statement of Assurances.
·
Approved
the recommendation to expel two students out-of-school for the remainder of the
2001-2002 school year.
·
Approved
the recommendation to add powerlifting as a sport at Columbia High School
beginning with the 2002-2003 school year.
·
Accepted
employment resignations submitted by Lisa McNease, TA at Columbia Elementary
School, effective at the end of the current year; and Mollie Hilburn, maid at
central office, effective April 10, 2002, and as a cafeteria worker at the end
of the current school year.
·
Approved
the following personnel recommendations:
-Employment of the following
persons for the remainder of the 2001-2002 school year: Regina Haddox as a cashier at Jefferson
Middle School, Brenda Cox as maid for Central Office, Ronda Mulford as a
substitute bus driver, and teachers for the 2001-2002 Extended School
Year/Summer School Programs as listed below:

Columbia Elementary School, Willie Mae Cowart as a cafeteria worker at CES,
Betty Barnes as a substitute cafeteria worker and John McElroy as an assistant
football coach during football season and spring training.

Discussed
confidential personnel and financial matters in executive session.

Approved
salary schedules for the 2002-2003 school year.

Reviewed
the FY 2003 budget development completed to date.

Was
informed of the resignation of Mrs. Camille Breland, School Board President,
effective June 14, 2002.

Recessed
the meeting until 5:30 p.m., May 30, 2002, for the purpose of a public hearing
on the FY 2003 Budget.
