minutes of previous meeting.

Heard
a report on district building projects.

the monthly financial status report.

the Claims Docket for payment of current accounts.

Approved
a request from an employee, living out of the district, for her children to
attend district schools.
·
Accepted
donations from the Columbia Educational Foundation awarding CHS $1,000.00, JMS
$1,000.00, CES $1,000.00, CPS (2-3) $1,200.00, and CPS (K-1) $1,000.00.
·
Accepted
a cash donation from Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association in the
amount of $500.00 to purchase a glass display case for the CHS library.
·
Granted
the CHS Show Choir permission to conduct a fundraiser by selling Pizza Hut Cards.
·
Gave
second approval of revisions to District Policy JCDAC "Alcohol and Drug
Use".
·
Accepted
employment resignations submitted by Mrs. Michelle Allen, teacher assistant at
Jefferson Middle School, effective December 2, 2002, and Mr. Kenneth Blaine
Wall as English teacher/yearbook advisor at Columbia High School, effective
December 20, 2002.

Approved
the employment of Mrs. Angela D. Johnson as an English teacher at Columbia High
School; Mrs. Heather Scott as a special education teacher assistant at
Jefferson Middle School; Ms. Hope Dunaway as a special education teacher
assistant at Columbia Primary School (K-1); and Mrs. Michelle Allen, Mr.
Richard C. Yeager, and Mr. Mitch Barber be added to the district's substitute
teacher list for the remainder of the 2002-2003 school year pending the results
of a current background check as required by State law.

Approved
the employment of Mrs. Lynn McDaniel as yearbook advisor at Columbia High
School, effective January 6, 2003; and Ms. Ashley Copeland as the after school
Nova Net Instructor for the remainder of the 2002-2003 school year.

Approved
Columbia High School teachers to conduct after school tutoring sessions for the
state subject area tests on an as needed basis. (Teachers will be compensated with funds awarded to CHS from the
Columbia Educational Foundation.)
·
Granted
an employee maternity leave.
·
Was
informed that the district received a certificate from the Office of the State
Auditor recognizing the District for meeting requirements for financial
reporting by receiving an unqualified opinion and having no material findings,
weaknesses in internal control for the year ended June 30, 2001.
·
Heard
a report from the Superintendent which included Mary Street property, energy
savings plans, test scores, and the addition of a financial planning class at
Columbia High School.
