REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AUGUST 9, 2007

 

            The Board of Trustees:

 

·        Approved minutes of previous meetings.

 

·        Heard a report from Mr. Wib Wright, Auditor, on the District’s audited financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2006.

 

·        Received a report on student enrollment and the monthly financial status report.

 

·        Was informed that the new football scoreboard is scheduled to be up for the first home game on August 31, 2007.  

 

·        Approved the claims docket for payment of current accounts.

 

·        Received monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for special events.

 

·        Approved requests to dispose of the following equipment that is beyond repair: one server, tag #4070; one modem rack, tag #3468; one digital camera, tag #2276; one computers, tag #s 1953 & 4877; one quick take camera, tag #2200; one wireless radio, tag #2918; two fax machines, tag #s 4962 & 4966; two typewriters, tag #s 1214 & 1216; and two printers, tag #s 3067 & 3739.

 

·        Granted the Jefferson Middle School student body permission to sell discount cards as a fundraiser.

 

·        Approved requests from district employees living out of the district for their children to attend Columbia schools for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

·        Granted Columbia High School students and chaperons permission to travel out-of-state to New Orleans, LA to the attend the New Orleans Saints home games during the 2007 football season as part of the CHS Positive Incentive Program.

 

·        Accepted a student released from the Lamar County School District as a tuition student for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

·        Gave second approval of job descriptions for Teacher Support Team/Interventions Strategist and Instructional Technology Strategist.

 

·        Approved revisions to Section A (Organization), Section B (School Board Operations), Section C (General School Administration), and Section D (Fiscal Management) of the District School Board Policy Manual.

 

·        Approved the revised Procurement Plan for the Food Services Department.

 

·        Accepted the resignation of LaToya Thompson as the Fast ForWord lab facilitator at Columbia Elementary School.           

 

·        Approved the employment of Kenneth Lumpkins and Candace R. Woodroof as substitute teachers, Evelyn Aaron as a 10-month clerical assistant at Columbia Elementary School, and Chandra Expose as a full-time counselor at Columbia Elementary School for the 2007-2008 school year. 

 

·        Received a copy of administrative staff meeting minutes, the MSBA 2007-2008 schedule of board development workshops, and a list of the District’s Strategic Plan strategies and action plans.

 

·        Discussed embargoed information in executive session.
