a resolution of appreciation to volunteers who assisted with the Columbia High
School musical.

musical volunteers and presented a resolution of appreciation to Mrs. Gail
Curtis, Ms. Stephanie Guidroz, Mrs. Loucinda Herrington, Mr. Ronnie Herrington,
Mr. Chris Turnage, and Ms. Connie Wood.

Accepted
the resignation of Mr. Richard Foxworth as School Board Attorney.
·
Appointed
Mr. Andrew Foxworth as School Board Attorney.
·
Approved
the payment of accounts.
·
Received
the monthly reports on bus repairs/expenses and the use of school buses for
special events.
·
Approved
a request to dispose of 1996-97 food service records.
·
Approved
a request to dispose of the following equipment that is beyond repair: three
computers, tag #s 539, 1317, & 1303; and five printers, tag #s 2612, 3273,
1318, 1304, & 2609.

Approved
a request for permission for district personnel to travel out-of-state.
·
Granted
approval of out-of-state field trip requests (CHS French Club and the AP US
History class to travel to New Orleans, LA).
·
Accepted
a cash donation from the Exxon Mobil Foundation.
·
Granted
the CHS Band Boosters permission to conduct two fundraisers (Carwash and
Band-Fest Day in the Park).
·
Gave
second approval of revisions to district policy JCDB "Dress Code" and
approval of the student uniform dress code beginning with the 2003-2004 school
year.
·
Gave
first approval of revisions to the Child Nutrition Employee Handbook.
·
Approved
the purchase of Compass Learning Odyssey software from Compass Learning which
is the sole source provider.
·
Authorized
the District to submit an application for funding Consolidated Federal
Programs.
·
Authorized
the District to submit a Mississippi Medicaid Re-Enrollment Application.
·
Approved
the recommendation to expel two students out of school and placement of one
student in the district's alternative program.
·
Approved
the following 2003 extended school year/summer school tuition fee for Columbia

Authorized
the district to enter into a contract with the Mississippi State Department of
Health to implement an Early Periodic Screening Diagnostic and Treatment
(EPSDT) clinic at Columbia High School beginning July 1, 2003.
·
Accepted
resignations submitted by Heather Buckley, teacher assistant at JMS; Brenda Cox
and Thomas Bass, bus drivers; and Cindy Welch, teacher assistant at CPS, K-1.
·
Approved
the employment of Patricia Watts as a special education teacher assistant at
JMS, Milton Averett and Carla Douglas as bus drivers, and Augustine Aaron as a
substitute teacher for the remainder of the 2002-2003 school year.
·
Approved
the employment of Louise Brown, Wynne Maily, Mary Price, Brandy Newman, and
Tonya Lucus as extended school year teachers; and Robert Cheatham as a driver's
education teacher for the 2003 summer school session.
·
Approved
the employment of Edwin Ray as an alternative education administrator, Marcus
Wood as head football coach, Ashley Watkins as an art teacher, and Robert
Cheatham as a math teacher/assistant football coach at Columbia High School for
the 2003-2004 school year.
·
Approved
the recommended salary schedule handbook for FY 2004.
·
Reviewed
FY 2004 budget development completed to date.
·
Was
informed of the month of May school events, minutes of administrative staff
meeting, and the Columbia High School dance team constitution.
·
Continued
the meeting until 5:00 p.m., May 22, 2003, for the purpose of considering the
FY 2004 Budget.
