Approved a request to destroy the following special education records:
federal projects through the 2000-2001 school year, correspondence and general
files prior to 2001, records on former students who were ineligible for special
education, records on former students who are deceased, and records on former
students who were eligible or ineligible for the gifted program (retained for
five inactive years).

Approved the 2006-2007 Consolidated Federal Programs and Title IV-A
(Drug Free Schools) applications and statements of assurances.
·
Approved a request
for permission to travel out-of-state.
·
Gave first approval of revisions
to the following school board policies: ADB (Attendance), BA (Mission Statement
– approved
·
Gave first
approval of revisions to the Student Code of Conduct & Discipline Plan
and student/parent handbooks for the 2006-2007 school year.
·
Approved an
increase in the cost of an adult breakfast from $1.25 to $1.45.
·
Approved an
application for IDEA,
Part B and Preschool project and the statement of assurances for FY 2007.
·
Discussed
confidential matters in executive session.
·
Accepted the employment
resignations of Breck
Short, special education teacher at Columbia Elementary School, and Jacqueline
Cannon, English teacher at Columbia High School, effective at the end of the
2005-2006 school year; and Baxter White, Jr., teacher/coach at Columbia High
School, effective June 30, 2006, for the purpose of retirement.

Approved the
following employment recommendations for the 2006 summer/2006-2007 school year:
Louise Brown as
a speech/language pathologist and Donna Regan as a SPED teacher for the SPED
extended school year program; Melissa Arinder, Louise Brown, Joyce Fortenberry,
and Zelma Magee as speech/language pathologists on an as needed basis to
conduct speech-language and/or preschool developmental assessments on referrals
that arise during the summer months; Paul Daniels as a summer technology
worker; Jayce Godwin as a summer mechanic helper; Chris Turnage as a summer clerical worker on an as needed basis;
Carolyn Wascomb to clean central office and central office annex; Emily Smith and
Brittany Smith as teacher assistants at Columbia Primary School (2-3); Nena
White as JMS Student Council sponsor; Sarah Pittman as JMS Beta Club
co-sponsor; Kim Todd as JMS cheerleader sponsor; Tracy Nightingale as the JMS
Day Treatment teacher; Cicely Bell-Lewis as an English teacher and Jazz Catz
sponsor at Columbia High School; Amy Hamilton as a special education teacher
for preschool at Columbia Primary (K-1); Terrance Jackson as an assistant
strength and conditioning coach for the Columbia High School football program
during the 2006 summer and as a part-time physical education teacher at
Jefferson Middle School; and coaching assignments, Doug Norris – CHS Head
Football, Weights, & Head Track Coach; Tim Horton – Head 8th gr.
Football, Asst. 9th gr. Football, & Asst. Track Coach; Greg
