REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, MARCH 6, 2003
The Board of Trustees:
· Approved minutes of previous meeting.
· Acknowledged a parent's concerns.
· Heard a report on district building projects.
· Authorized the district to advertise for bids to construct a new bus shop and add three or four classrooms to the Columbia Primary School building.
· Authorized payment for delivery of new school buses.
· Received the monthly financial status report.
· Heard a status report on the FY 2004 budget.
· Approved the claims docket for payment of current accounts.
· Acknowledged the report on bus repairs/expenses and the monthly report on the use of school buses for special events.
· Approved requests to dispose of the following equipment that is beyond repair: one refrigerator, tag #758; and one computer w/monitor, tag #2075.
· Granted approval of the following fundraiser requests: CHS Student Council, dinner & movie raffle and collect money for a Kiss the Pig Contest; French Club, sell candy; and the CHS Band Boosters, steak dinner and garage sale.
· Approved requests to travel out-of-state.
· Approved revisions to the Columbia High School Cheerleader Constitution.
· Gave second approval of revisions to district policy IHF "Graduation Requirements".
· Discussed confidential personnel matters in executive session.
· Accepted employment resignations submitted by Mrs. Sharron Rankin Wilson, art teacher at CHS; Mrs. Amy Carley, choral director, effective at the end of the current school year; Ms. Kimberly Murphy, SPED teacher at JMS, effective at the end of the current school year; Ms. Brandi Deroche, math teacher at CHS, effective at the end of the current school year; and Mrs. Stephanie Taylor, bus driver.
· Authorized Mr. Mike Bass, band director, to conduct a summer band camp for JMS students.
· Approved the employment of Mrs. Ashley B. Watkins as an art teacher at CHS and Mrs. Marie E. Bass as a bus driver for the remainder of the 2003-2004 school year.
· Approved certified employment recommendations for the 2003-2004 school year.
· Reconsidered the 2003-2004 school year calendar.
· Was informed that the Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma recognized six members for their efforts in completing their National Board Certification requirements. Congratulations to Mrs. Wynne Maily, Mrs. Merl Sullivan-Morman, Ms. Beth Pierce, Mrs. Sharon Russell, Mrs. Carolyn Simmons, and Dr. Marilyn Foxworth, former employee of the Columbia School District. These ladies received the Society's Red Rose Award. Mrs. Simmons was also chosen as the Alpha Omega's Woman of Distinction.
