REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, April 5, 2007

 

            The Board of Trustees:

 

·        Approved minutes of previous meetings.

 

·        Received the monthly financial status report.

 

·        Heard a report on FY 2008 budget development.

 

·        Approved the claims docket for payment of current accounts.

 

·        Acknowledged the report on bus repairs/expenses and the monthly report on the use of school buses for special events.

 

·        Approved requests to dispose of the following equipment that is beyond repair: two VCRs, tag #s 967 & 4557; two computer switches, tag #s 3468 & 3796; one computer, tag #2040; three baritones, tag #s 9409, 9410, & 9411; two bass clarinets, tag #s 9413 & 9414; one French horn, tag #9419; two saxophones, tag #s 9421 & 9422; one piccolo, tag #5129; one trumpet case, tag #4268; two v-back chairs, tag #s 4195 & 4197; one laser printer, tag #2107; and one commercial dryer, tag #245.

 

·        Approved requests for permission to travel out-of-state.

 

·        Granted authorization to submit a SPED Extended School Year project application.

 

·        Approved a Saturday School Program at Columbia High School.

 

·        Accepted employment resignations submitted by Evelyn Lee, home-based teacher; Merl Sullivan-Morman, teacher at Jefferson Middle School; Martha Morrow, teacher at Columbia Primary School (2-3);

 

 
Tammy Smith, music teacher at Columbia Primary School; effective at the end of the current school year and Weiling Ji, custodian at Columbia Primary School (K-1), effective April 6, 2007.

 

·        Approved the employment of the following persons for the remainder of the 2006-2007 school year: Jessica Poirier as a first grade teacher assistant at Columbia Primary School,

 

 
Warren Selman as a substitute bus driver, and Angela Jefferson to clean central office and the central office annex.

 

·        Approved the employment of Mrs. Rene’ Sims as an Assistant Principal at Columbia Primary School for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

·        Approved certified employment recommendations for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

·        Discussed confidential legal and personnel matters in executive session.

 

·        Expelled and placed two students in the district’s alternative program.

 

·        Approved the 2007-2008 salary handbook.

 

·        Received a copy of administrative staff meeting minutes.

 

·        Authorized the district to submit a Redesigning Education for the 21st Century Workforce grant application.
