minutes of previous meeting.

Received
a proposal from Bancorp South on Mississippi EdPool investments.

Heard
a report on district building projects.

the monthly financial status report.

the claims docket for payment of accounts.

Acknowledged
the report on bus repairs/expenses and the monthly report on the use of school
buses for special events.

Gave
second approval of revisions to district policy IHA/IHE "Grading,
Reporting Promotion and Retention".
·
Approved
requests from supervisors for permission to discard the following equipment
that is beyond repair: two telephones, tag #s 3985 & 3037; cashier table,
tag #1706; one cafeteria table with seating, tag #300; one overhead projector,
tag #123; two bassoons, tag #s 9310 & 9311; one oboe, tag #9363; one tenor
saxophone tag #9371; one coat rack, tag #2150; two radios, tag #s 252 &
253; four snare carriers, tag #s 2939, 2940, 2941, & 2942; one 27"
television, tag #116; one VCR, tag #117; four bass drum carriers, tag #s 2120,
2121, 2122, and 2123; one fax machine, tag #3519; one typewriter, tag #1211;
and two computers, tag #s 2486 & 2625.

Accepted
the lowest and best bid received for thirty-two classroom computers from
Synergetics Diversified Computer Services in the amount of $35,800.00.
·
Accepted
bids received from Sonrise Ministries, Vera Broome, and M. L. Pittman for
surplus food services items as advertised.
·
Adopted a resolution authorizing the Superintendent
as contact person
for a contract with the Mississippi Medicaid agency for services offered
through the EPSDT School Based Clinic at Columbia High School.
·
Gave
first approval of revisions to district policy IFBG "Computer Network
Acceptable Use".
·
Approved
the employment of Marcus Miller as a substitute bus assistant, Samantha
Fortenberry and Antonio M. Johnson as substitute teachers, and Becky Lawrence
and Deborah Lawrence as substitute cafeteria workers.
·
Granted
Greg Owen, teacher at Columbia High School, a sabbatical leave for the
2004-2005 school year to participate in the Mississippi School Administrator
Program contingent upon the State Board of Education's approval of the
district's need and the availability of state funds.
·
Received
a copy of administrative staff meeting minutes.
·
Was
informed that Ms. Maryanne Boutwell and Ms. Regina Allen received National
Board Certification and school nominees for 2004 District Teacher of the Year
are: Mrs. Mary Beth Golson, Columbia Primary School (K-1); Mr. Loren Monk,
Columbia Primary School (2-3); Mrs. Beth Boutwell, Columbia Elementary School;
Mrs. Sara Davis, Jefferson Middle School; Mr. Michael Novinski, Columbia High
School. (Congratulations to these
teachers!)
